Camp Director: Glenn Dolton

Coach Dolton is a graduate of Phil-Mont Christian Academy, Messiah College and Wilkes University.  He is currently, the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Phil-Mont Christian Academy.  His previous coaching experience includes; Head Boys Basketball Coach at William Tennent High School, Head Boys Basketball Coach at Lower Moreland High School, Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Delaware Valley College, Messiah College and Cheltenham High School. He also teaches Physical Education in the Upper Moreland School District. 

Camp Philosophy:

The purpose of the Dolton Basketball Camp is to teach girls and boys the fundamentals of basketball in a positive and fun atmosphere.  There will be an emphasis on teaching all of the campers, good sportsmanship, team play and the importance of making good decisions both on and off the court.  All instructors will challenge and instruct campers in a positive manner.  Campers of all skill levels are welcome. 

Camp Descriptions:

Day Camps – All Day Camps are open to girls and boys entering grades 3-10.  The campers will be taught basic fundamental skills with an emphasis on individual instruction.  Campers will participate in various individual, small group and team competitions (3v3, 4v4, 5v5).

Offensive Skills Camps – The Offensive Skills Camp is open to girls and boys entering grades 3-12.  Campers will be grouped by grade level.  The main emphasis is on the development of individual skills (ball handling, passing, shooting and individual breakdown moves).  There will be specific positional instruction available.

Camp Cost:

  • Camp #1 – The “Mini” Day Camp - $60 
  • Camp #2 and #3 – The Offensive Skills Camps - $20 each
  • Camp #4 – Day Camp at Veterans Memorial Park in Willow Grove - $90 if you are a resident of Upper Moreland Township and $135 for all Non-Residents of Upper Moreland Township.

Camp Discounts:

  • Register for Camp #4, August 14-17 (18), at Veterans Memorial Park in Willow Grove and you can attend ONE other camp at half price. 
  • If there are two or more campers per family, there will be a $5 discount per camper. 
  • Discounts may be combined! 

General Camp Information:

  • Every camper receives a camp shirt.
  • Campers will participate in several individual and team daily competitions.
  • All campers must provide their own lunches at the day camp(s).  Water will be provided.
  • There will be a camp awards program on the last day (Mini and regular Day Camps only).
  • Campers should arrive at camp at 8:45 AM.
  • There is no aftercare available.  Please pick up your camper(s) at the time camp is scheduled to end! If no one has picked up your camper(s) within 15 minutes of the end of camp, we will call the emergency contact and you will be charged a $15 late pick-up fee.

Typical Daily Schedule

  • Campers arrive
  • Morning announcements and warm-up activities
  • Fundamental skills session (ie. Skill stations, individual basket skill challenges, large and small group instruction, small group skill breakdown instruction).
  • Daily foul shooting competition
  • 5v5 games within leagues
  • 2 player 1 ball shooting competition
  • Large group instruction – Offensive and Defensive tips of the day
  • Lunch and 5v5 games within leagues
  • Foul shooting for percentage
  • 1v1 play
  • Team 7 up shooting competition
  • Knockout competition
  • 3v3 and/or 4v4 league play
  • Closing activities - complete daily competitions and end of the day announcements
  • Dismiss

Frequently asked questions:

Q – What should my child bring to camp each day?

A – Lunch (including a beverage).  Wear shorts, t-shirt, sneakers and socks.

Q: How early can my child arrive and what time must he/she be picked up?
A – Arrival: Campers should arrive at camp at 8:45 AM; Departure: Please pick up your camper(s) at the time camp is scheduled to end! If no one has picked up your camper(s) within 15 minutes of the end of camp, we will call the emergency contact and you will be charged a $15 late pick-up fee. There is no pre or aftercare available.

Q – My child would like to be in the same group as his/her friend?
A – If ages are similar, they are most always assigned to the same group. If not, please tell Coach Dolton or any other Counselor.

Q – Is the camp very competitive?
A – These are “teaching camps” with a strong focus on skill development. There are several competitive contests and activities (3v3, 4v4 and 5v5) throughout the week.
